If you are on a low income in England or live in a badly insulated home with an inefficient heating system or none at all, you may well qualify for a FREE Warm Front Grant . This is a UK Government funded initiative, so no cowboys!
You don’t even have to own your own home to qualify, you may rent your home from a private Landlord, thus helping lots of old aged pensioners, single parents and families on low incomes.
We’re just coming up to the summer but NOW is the time to be thinking about applying for this grant as the Warm Front Scheme has just started accepting new applications from 14th April 2011.
There is new criteria for applications now, so if you didn’t succeed last time, you may well this time.
It really is ‘double bubble’ as you not only potentially get all of the works completed for free, adding value to your home, but your fuel bills and heat loss from your house, will be greatly reduced.
What are the Grants for?
Cavity Wall Insulation
Heating Systems
Glass Fronted Fires
Loft Insulation
Draught Proofing
and more……….
How much does Warm Front contribute?
In general you can get warm front grants up to the value of £3,500 , this rises up to £6,000 if your heating system is more complicated, for example oilfired heating systems.
Make sure the projected cost you are estimated does NOT exceed the value of the grant allocated, as YOU will be liable for any costs OVER the grant limit.
How do you apply for a Warm Front Grant?
There are four steps in the Warm Front scheme:
Step 1: Apply
Apply Online: Apply for a Warm Front grant
Apply by post :

Apply by Telephone: 0800 316 2805
You can even email enquiries: enquiry@eaga.com
Step 2: Technical survey
If you are successful in your application, a Warm Front engineer will visit your home and suggest which improvements could be made under the scheme. You will be given an appointment for a survey when your application is processed. If during this survey it is identified that the problems relate to a gas heating system that could easily be repaired within a three hour time limit, then the Warm Front engineer will carry out the work whilst at your home.
Step 3: Allocation of a Warm Front installer
An installer will be allocated to you following your survey. The installer will then be in touch to agree a installation date.
Step 4: Installation work
Fully-trained Warm Front installers will make the improvements in your home. From the point of being allocated to an installer we aim to have insulation work completed within 3 months of your technical survey and heating works completed within a maximum of five months of your survey.
After Installation
A random sample of installations will be inspected following installation. This is to ensure the highest standards of work are maintained within the scheme. If your property is chosen in this sample you will be contacted by Eaga to arrange a suitable inspection date.
All customers that receive a new or replacement gas heating system will also get an aftercare service that includes an annual service visit.
Who is likely to qualify?
Those on pension credits, income support, jobseekers allowance, those with children under the age of 5 living with them.
The best way is to PICK UP THE PHONE and speak to someone to see if you qualify.
It is rare the Governments have these sort of initiatives and you stand to save money on all future heating bills, have a warmer home and add value to your home.
